17 Tips To Set Up A New Website (For SEO)

Hey there!

Matt here, of SEOperate.

Today I wanted to talk about how to set up a new website, the basics & the advanced tactics.

Without further ado, let’s get into the list so you can begin your new website with a good start.

Tips To Set Up A New Website

Conclusion

Making sure you have a good foundation for your site is important.

One year from now, you will thank yourself that you got the foundation right.

Personally, I’ve been in situations where I’ve started using the wrong system and setup. Which was very difficult to change later on, when you’ve for example build out a whole structure and complex site.

Think about the best way to setup your website, keeping in mind:

  • Scalability
  • Speed
  • Customization
  • Independency

Building a Small or Big project

If you want to build a large website with lots of features.

A no-code based platform might not be the best choice.

But on the other hand, if you’re just building a landing page or a client-based site with very minimal features and customization, no-code might be the right choice.

This is one of the biggest choices you make that will have a great impact later on, keep that in mind.

Building SaaS project

When you’re building a SaaS project, try to envision the future.

You might need to add payment methods, API’s, advanced code snippets, etc.

And using a no-code platform will probably not suffice. These platforms are often limited in features and capability. And even if they have a good support and community, the chance that they’re going to implement your suggestion of a feature, is very small.

Instead if you’re not sure how to code yet, or set up complicated systems.

Use WordPress for example, this way you don’t need to code, but if you want you can add plugins and code snippets.

For even more complicated matters you might want to use tools like:

  • React.js
  • Next.js
  • Tailwind CSS

These tools are code based. But they are fast to learn and implement.

Especially using ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot.

Anyways, in the end it’s really up to you.

And by picking one option, and figuring it out along the way.

Is way better than not starting at all. Even with tools that might not get you everywhere.

You’ll learn 100x more than not taking action and iterating on it.
